Heres a thought for a couple of potential polls on Irish Rock..
Poll one Best ever lead fiddle/violin solo by an Irish rock Artist with possible contenders being 1)Charles O'Connor on Nightime Boy (DancehallSweathearts)
2)Colm MacConIomaire's live rendition of 'The ghost of Pickering Forest (Live at Sidney Metro 14/08/07 on Australia's Mosh Cam.Com
                             3) Charles O'Connor again on Loneliness (The Man Who Built America album or the live version on The Return of the Dancehall Sweathearts DVD)...I'm sure some others may have some suggested contenders.

Or how about 'The Best Ever Use Of Uiellann Pipes on an Irish Rock Song'
With contenders being U2 on the October album 'Will you be back tomorrow..' Horslips with perhaps 'Turn Your Face To The Wall'(UCOT), Dearg Doom or More Than You Can Chew(TheTain) Not forgetting the latest offering in the Barry McCabe/Davey Spillane immense mythological music cycle..!
Or how about Kate Bush's 'Hello Earth?' (I don't think Kate was born in Ireland but her families Irish and it's one hell of a track!) and there's countless other contenders out there...

And of course let's not forget King of the Fairies, or does that not count?.

[/quote]    Shocked  Good job I did'nt say best 'use' of a violin/fiddle or you would have said when he smashed it up at the last Belfast gig! Wink  another great solo by Charles is his lil' epic on 'Fool the Beast' (the Tain)  and Colm MacConIomaire made some classic atmospherics ooooze out of his violin on Santa Maria (in the Amsterdam gig - see Frames gig post)

Thanks in advance for your vote Nats. See, that's how it's done - just supply people with good music and they'll vote for you!! It's got nothing to do with stuffing ballot boxes or brown envelopes, honestly!! Roll Eyes
