Attention Forum Members: Vote now for next jukebox track!!!
«

Hey all,
We're going to have a little poll coming up soon to choose the next track for the jukebox. Up till now I've, very selectively, hand picked some stand out tracks myself. But the next track to be bestowed with the honor of a spot in the
Irish Rock Discovery Jukebox
will be chosen democratically by a free and fair election by members of this forum
. The tracks for consideration will be tracks submitted by artists who are signed up Irish Rockers Insiders. I have already put the call out to the Insiders and have received a few tracks already but we'll give it another few more days to see if there are any more submissions. So check back in a few days or so for your chance to vote in the most important election of 2008

Ok, the tracks are all ready, listen to them and vote in the poll.
I added the jukebox containing the tracks to my original post so it appears at the top of the page.

Seems to be a little problem with the jukebox not working in IE. I'll fix that when I get a chance. In the meantime check it in Firefox if you have it.

This poll is now closed.
Winner: Blackball Fighter - Hell
I'm afraid voter turnout was a bit lower than expected for this one and I get to cast the deciding vote to choose between Jekyl and Blackball Fighter so I'm going with Blackball Fighter and I've added their track, Hell, to the main Jukebox.

Doh...
I chose Jekyl
I've been beaten by an alpine bear!
There all great tracks I guess Jekyl was just the heaviest.

Since Tom from Jekyl made an appearance in person and didn't complain about my decision, I've decided to overturn my earlier decision and declare Jekyl the winners
Well actually, let's call it a tie between Jekyl & Blackball Fighter - both tracks added to the Irish Rock Discovery Jukebox (2 more albums that you have to buy MadNats
)
By the way I've also added another new track - one from Mike Bartlett (another PW radio discovery). I think it's a really amazing track - what do you think?

Well I don't reckon you would have risked your life by removing Blackball Fighter all together, nah would ya'?

Rightio, here I come with my mini reviews.
So I only got to listen to Blackball Fighter on MySpace tonight, so got a better overview of their stuff, and yes it's really good stuff.
And finally just listened to Jekyl, I mean their MySpace stuff....AND...it is so MY head banging stuff, for my sort of head banging sessions...my full volume type head banging sessions. Actually I have not dared to have one in months, not since the french police came to the sound of AC/DC..ouch...."Is the loud music coming from your place" they ask after I quit the sound in a millisecond. We had not realised the music reached the neighbour's house, inside, 20 meters across the garden....
There is one place where I can really enjoy my head banging sessions to my heart's content and this is once a year, in a small town of Switzerland, hosting a yearly wine street festival. This festival is not about tasting wine, it is simply to celebrate the forthcoming harvest. Basically the whole town is turned into a pedestrian area, filled with stalls selling booze and food. Each stall representing a business of the town, or a sports club or or or. Each with their own style of music (or just no music).
We walk aimlessly from stall to stall, stuffing our faces with the lovely different foodies, drinking the 'ole vino, and this for 3 days. And one of the stalls is called the "Rock Metal" stall. And there, for 3 days it's anything from Black Sabbath to Deep Purple, via Rage against the Machine, visiting Alice Cooper. Basically, if you can move your head up and down to the tune in an unhealthy way, then they have and play it. Tunes you only ever to get to hear there.
This is the last week end of September of each year and have been going for about 28 years now. I've had returning visitors from England, so good it was and so much fun they have. I didn't mention there are also various street discos, playing fairly good party type music.
I am very cheeky because when I've had a few, I claim to be from the Quality Control office for the drinks so I take people's drinks to taste...

Wow,
Well thank you for adding us to the Jukebox, get us a bit more exposure.
We are a rock band from Kildare.
Soon we bail to London for a few gigs, then we are heading out to L.A. for a year, and give it a decent shot there. (That's the short story)
We didn't want to put all the tracks up on Myspace just yet.. so the promo mp3 is the best example I suppose of what we are at, but it's great to get some feedback really is. It's a good feeling to know people actually enjoy the music you make .. we are also trying to get one of tracks into the download charts at the moment.
The song is Face your fears and to get its you text; music 1112 to 57501 then it gives you a password and username to download it. It's the first song on the promo track on myspace.
All our recent stuff was mixed by Ger McDonnell, he does some stuff for U2, but mainly works with Def Leppard. Our engineer is Andy Knightley he does stuff for Bell X1, and The Rags.
So thanks for everything!
I will check out the other jukebox tracks when I have some time, just up to my eyeballs at the moment. (I had a listen to "Tears of man" I dig the vocals on that.. very haunting)
All the best,
Tom Keenan (Chief)
