A great occasion and a great tribute band (who can count Horslips amongst their fans...and Horslips has been known to get up and jam at Horslypse gig or two so this is something Not to Miss!) Send your email in today!

"I'll be waiting, you know I'll be waiting"...
I have a real soft spot for this album as I was on part of their USA tour to support this album. A great time was had by all, shall I say. Got to see and meet lots of great bands too on that tour (e.g.) Roxy Music [very funny story about that gig but it's not for public consumption], The Tubes, Molly Hatchett, Eric Johnson, and a whole bunch more but their names escape me poor ol' brain at the moment.
Hope to see some of you there.
Peace
Barry

Actually that's my line, when I was being stood up by Barry Devlin a week ago in Dublin...Now don't you go telling those muppets over on FanTasia.... Actually I was stood up by 2 people...but I won't name the other one or you'll really have a "laff"

Isn't FanTasia one of the wittiest forums out there (as was the old Horslips guestbook). Horslips definitely had/has the wackiest following of any band I know - and long may it last!!

YEAH definitely and because it is a Horslips forum and we talk very seldom about other music and it's not geared towards that, as is here, and there is only so much you can talk about them, 30 years down the line, which has not been said 100 times over, we just have to pad the rest with idiocies...(yours truly being the main contributor of these that is).
But having said that we can never have enough of hearing those Lipsos stories.

I have another suggestion...you can always write me your Lipsos secrets in a private message here so that no one else will know and I'll keep them safe with me

Ha ha - yeah, right, I believe you (although thousands wouldn't)!!
...and as for the Swiss chocolate, I'm really trying to knock back on the 'goodies' these days. Gotta keep this tired ol' body in shape for my adoring millions!!
Will tell ya one little piece of info (nothing juicy) - by the time we got to Florida the road crew had clearing the stage in record fast time down to a fine art. Everything was shifted off stage really, really fast and then packed and wrapped properly after that. The shout of "Horslips clear" turned many a head and had lots of stagehands looking at their watches in disbelief.
Nothing like having pride in your work, huh?

Barry McCabe! I've been researching the "Horslips in America" tours for more than a year now...found lots of great tales too. But I had no idea I could turn to you for even more road stories! In turn, you might enjoy the photos that have been trickling my way. Here's one of a Horslips billboard advertising The Man Who Built America on Sunset Boulevard.

I know it's probably common knowledge about the immense influence that The Man Who Built America had on the musical direction of U2 (once Barry D sneakily played it to them prior to it's release when he was recording their first demo) ..if you've seen the horslips DVD then you'll know that Bono confessed to ripping it off for his emmy winning 'hands that built america' and that 'The Edge' placed that first preview of the album as a defining moment in the developement of their sound..but did you know that their still 'borrowing' from the Horslips album for the design of their website (U2.com) ?... they've actualy toned it down alot since 2006 as back then they even had the face of Elvis mixed in with the red and white stripes(..now they just have the angular stripes at the top of most pages). Mind you, you can't realy blame them for 'borrowing it' as it was (and is) an iconic album with a unique groundbreaking sound...recorded, designed and published to perfection...I also have to confess that I actualy pinched the 'we bade farewell to land and shore' quote from the cover myself a few times for various profiles...but now that I've removed the proverbial plank from my own eye I'm completely free to bash Bono round the head with it as much as I like!
...ah...so that must be why confession is good for the soul?
Bono and the boys further adventures in how to copy your icons can be seen here:
http://www.u2.com/home.php
(wish I copied the original U2 site..it was just such a blatant Man Who Built America clone)

Oh goodness yes! That bit with Bono in ROTDS is one of the best moments of him owning up to the whole thing. And it gets better: last November after the Aliens anniversary party, one of the organizers was in the gent's room of a Dublin restaurant doing...ah, that is...minding his own business and was approached by the great man himself (!) who inquired rather wistfully about the Horslips fan parties and when the next one might be.

Hi Lee - oh yes, been there, have the T-shirt, etc.!!
OK, seeing as we've sort of started a topic here - what info would you like to know (bearing in mind we're on a public forum and I don't do kiss & tell)!!

...BUT there must be rules to follow.... I don't want to read anything about Barry D. and his conquests...as this may slightly annoy me
. You wouldn't like to see me annoyed...honest...
Anything else is fine of course ...
