I think you might be slightly incorrect with the original band... I was the original drummer, played with Ger and Brian for many years with Conor Cullinan on keys. What happened when we got the record contract is a whole other story...

I just now bought missing link Desert Boots 7” on Discogs. Have had both of their 12” singles and the lone LP for decades. Those songs, the amazing riffs echo through time unmatched for me, and this appears to be their only vestige on the web too.

Tony Lambert didn't play in the Sensational Alex Harvey Band, that was the 70's band. He played in Alex Harvey's band in the 80's, including Alex 's final gig in mainland Europe before he passed away.

Reply to Eamon The person you are on about is Robbie Hurley, one great gentleman. Didn't have an easy up bringing and ended up very unhappy in the band. Went to Medigorie and he did indeed find a spiritual life.

As cool as it sounds, Pat Nash did not become a race car driver in Idaho. I worked with him in an art gallery in Toronto mid 80's. Last time I saw him was early 90's when he had his own art gallery north of Toronto. Saw him jam a few times.

Brian Lynch played keyboards with them also. Great player and a nice guy. I played bass with them for a few months while they were looking for a bass player – I could not join them as I had a full-time job elsewhere.

Spud regularly played Belfield in the mid-70s. 10 years later Don was with the One-Eyed Rattlers - I often heard them in the Wexford Inn(?) Not many people know that they headlined at Slane Castle in 1988. OK, it was a wedding, but it was a great gig.

There’s no mention of Miles McKee who was their vocalist when I used to see them. Ther regularly played in Limavady when I was at school there. The last time I saw them was at the Marquee in London in 1971, and he was still a member then. (cont)

Saw them many times in Point Inn Donegal from 73 to 74. I worked, and still do, in Altnagelvin Hodpital. A large contingent of staff made the trip every time they played, great days. Met them when they played the nurses home, Altnagelvin.

I loved Spud too and had great fun in 1981 when I managed to get Sonnet in Sweeden to send me both Silk Purse and Smoking. Don and Smithy played at my wedding in Skerries as the One Eyed Rattlers in 1992 and I hve great shots of us all jamming that night.

A guy named Tom Kinnane was also a guitarist and vocalist in Pyramid and is now based in London. Nicky Fogarty was later replaced by Seanie Ryan on drums who eventually went on to play with Irish band'Tweed' and he is now based in USA.

"On the Boards" is just one of the best albums of all time. Right up there with "Kind of Blue" by Miles Davis. They were better than MOST bands at that time and not just because Rory Gallagher was the frontman. They were ALL fantastic!
