About Dónal Lunny

Dónal Lunny, a musician and producer, was born in Tullamore and grew up in Newbridge, Co. Kildare. Lunny plays He plays guitar and bouzouki, as well as keyboards and bodhrán in both traditional and contemporary settings. He was a founding member of As a founding member of Planxty, The Bothy Band and Moving Hearts in the 70s and 80s. Later groups and collaborations include Mozaik, LAPD, and Usher's Island.

Lunny has released three solo albums, Dónal Lunny (1987), Coolfin (1998) and Journey: The Best of Dónal Lunny (2001).

As a producer he got his start producing a 45rpm single for Skid Row. He was a producer and session musician on Kate Bush albums. He has worked with a long list of artists including Paul Brady, Elvis Costello, Indigo Girls, Sinéad O'Connor, Clannad, The Waterboys and Fairground Attraction.
