About Mushroom

Mushroom were an early '70s band treading some similar ground to the original Celtic rockers, Horslips and in fact where hailed as 'The next Horslips' in the Irish music press at the time. They just released one album, 'Early One Morning', in November 1973, a year after Horslips released 'Happy To Meet'. Although they are not nearly as well known as Horslips, they did have some success - their first single Devil Among the Tailors reached number 4 in the Irish charts in 1973 and their second single, Kings and Queens, reached number 13. Their first guitarist and manager, John Dee, was replaced Aengus McNally after he left to form Keltic Wine. The band split in 1975.

Line up (1973):

- Aengus McNally / guitars, tin whistle, vocals (replacing John Dee early in 1973)

- Colm Lynch / percussion, bodhran, wind and wood chimes, vocals (replaced by Paul Moran in 1974)

- Alan Brown / bass, 12-string guitar, vocals

- Michael Power / organ, harpsichord, moog, vocals (replaced by Harry Colley in 1974)

- Pat Collins / violin, electric violin, vocals
