The Blizzards, from Mullingar, formed in late 2004. Led by Niall Breslin and featuring Dec Murphy, Justin Ryan, Anthony Doran, Louize Carroll, and Aidan Lynch, they achieved notable success with multiple platinum records and numerous awards.
Their debut single, "First Girl to Leave Town," reached number 11 on the Irish Singles Chart in 2005. Signed to Universal Music Ireland, they quickly followed with top ten hits "Trouble" and "Fantasy," and their debut album, A Public Display of Affection, went platinum in Ireland.
Their second album, Domino Effect (2008), peaked at number two on the Irish Singles Chart and included popular singles like "Trust Me, I'm A Doctor." The band signed a UK record deal with Island Records in 2009 and supported major acts like Oasis, Kaiser Chiefs, The Prodigy, and AC/DC.
The Blizzards went on hiatus in 2009, with Niall Breslin focusing on music production and other members forming an 80's cover band. They reunited in 2016, releasing singles "Drop Down The Anchor" and "Perfect on Paper," followed by their third album, The Last Great Algorithm, in 2019.
Their fourth album, Sometimes We See More In The Dark, released in 2022, topped the Irish Independent album charts and was produced and mixed by Aidan Cunningham.
