About The Riptide Movement

The Riptide Movement are a rock band formed in Dublin in early 2006 by four lads from Lucan. They started out as a bluesy rock band citing influences from Creedence Clearwater Revival, Rory Gallagher, The Doors, Pink Floyd, The Beatles, and The Rolling Stones. Their music has evolved into an anthemic variety of rock music.

The quartet were together three months when they penned an early demo and set off for New York’s venues... Stopped, Interrogated and sent back to Dublin at the hands of "their good friends" in U.S customs. Down but not out, four days later they flew to London played 32 gigs and 2 festivals within 2 months!

Establishing their name in venues such as The Village, Vicar Street, Whelan’s, The Sugar Club, the length and breath of Ireland. U.K tours and festivals namely “The Harley Davidson” (Ireland) “Queens Park” (London) “Camden” (London) “In The City” (Manchester.)

Their 2009 debut album, “What About The Tip Jars??”, was produced by legendary producer Tony Colton (Rory Gallagher, The Doors, Yes, Heads, Hands and Feet) and published by Martin Wyaat (Fleetwood Mac, The Faces, The Moody Blues, The War of the Worlds). The album boasts guest appearances from Reese Wynam - Stevie Ray Vaughan’s “Double Trouble” on Hammond Organ. Recorded in Clique studios, sphere studios (London) and Cowboy Jack Clements Sound Emporium (Nashville) Released Through Bright music, I.Q music and Lucan Music.

Second album Keep On Keepin' On was released in April 2012 and received critical acclaim. It reached number six on the Irish Albums Chart.

The band signed a record deal with Universal Music in early 2014 ahead of the release of their 3rd album 'Getting Through' which reached number 1 in Irish Albums Chart.

Their fourth album Ghosts was released in 2016. The EP Something Special followed in 2019. In November 2024 they released a single with an Irish folk flavour 'The Old Stomping Ground'.
