Songwriter Richard Bolhuis form the Netherlands set up House of Cosy Cushions in 2003 in Amsterdam. But it came to life in Dublin between 2005 and 2010.
Initially a Dublin based collective, House of Cosy Cushions compacts an array of rock and roots influences into sublimely intricate songs with poetic, lyrical flourishes . A hypnotic live band with a blues trombone and haunting harmonies. An extended family of core players and guests drifts in and out. Their 2008 album ‘Animal Dream’ features guest performances by Cathy Davey (vocals), Cora Venus Lunny (violin) and Caomhín O’ Raghallaigh (violin).
2009 saw the release of House Of Cosy Cushions & Katie Kim, a collaboration with Katie Kim. The albums Spell (2014) and Underground Bliss (2018) followed.
