Paddy Casey is a singer-songwriter from Crumlin, Dublin, known for his blend of folk, rock, and acoustic music. Casey's influences include Duke Ellington, John Martyn, The Waterboys, Prince, and Sly & The Family Stone. He began his music career at 12, busking and gigging for over a decade. At 24, after being discovered by Sony A&R scout Hugh Murray, Casey signed a recording contract and released his debut album Amen (So Be It) in 1999. The album, which went triple platinum in Ireland, featured the hit "Sweet Suburban Sky" and received widespread recognition, including multiple nominations at the Hot Press Awards.
Casey’s follow-up album, Living (2003), went multi-platinum and was Ireland's best-selling album of the year. It included hits like "Saints and Sinners" and "The Lucky One" and earned him two Meteor Irish Music Awards for Best Irish Male. He toured extensively, including supporting U2 on their Vertigo tour.
In 2007, Casey released Addicted to Company Pt. 1, recorded with renowned musicians in Los Angeles. The album received positive attention, and he was promoted as an MTV Buzzworthy Artist. He continued touring and supporting artists like KT Tunstall.
After parting ways with Sony in the late 2000s, Casey became an independent artist, releasing The Secret Life Of in 2012, and continued to tour internationally. His 2021 double album, Turn This Ship Around, showcased his versatility, with one side focusing on acoustic and orchestral arrangements and the other on full-band tracks spanning multiple genres.
