Scullion is an Irish folk rock band that formed in the mid-1970s, achieving popularity in Ireland with several LPs and CDs, including compilations like Ghosts And Heroes (1992) and Eyelids into Snow – A Collection (2001). The founding members were Sonny Condell, Philip King, Greg Boland, and Jimmy O'Brien Moran, with O'Brien Moran leaving in 1980 after their debut album. Robbie Overson joined in 1987, replacing Boland.
The band's origins trace back to 1976 when Sonny Condell (formerly of Tir na nOg) and Philip King played together with Freddie White (vocals and guitar), Mick Daly (vocals and guitar), Dan Fitzgerald (drums) and Eamon Doyle (bass). In 1979, they began recording their first album, Scullion, which was released in 1980 and led to increased live performances. They recorded their second album, Balance and Control, in 1981 with John Martyn as producer but disbanded briefly after that.
Reuniting in 1982, they released White Side of Night in 1983, followed by their fourth album, Spin, in 1985, which featured the well-received single "Carol." Boland's departure led to Overson joining, and they recorded the Cooler At The Edge EP in 1988.
After a long hiatus, they released their first album in 27 years, Long Wave, in 2012, followed by Time Has Made a Change in Me in September 2022. Scullion continues to perform live.
