Sour Blood is the musical vehicle for Tipperary native Kevin Gleeson. Gleeson launched the music of Sour Blood in 2019 with a live show at Dublin Dance Festival. Gleeson’s enigmatic voice forms the core of this language, accompanied by an assemblage of staccato strings, chanting keys and primordial percussion, smeared through analogue tape effects. The result carves out an otherworldly space, straddling the line between memory and dream.
Sour Blood relased the EP Good Nevers in 2021 and followed with the album Suas in 2024. Suas is a rich sonic tapestry written and recorded between Gothenburg and Dublin from 2022 to 2023 in collaboration with Brendan Jenkinson (Villagers, Aoife Nessa Francis, John Francis Flynn).
Outside of Sour Blood, Kevin Gleeson is a sound designer & composer for theatre and a long time collaborator with award-winning Irish theatre company Dead Centre and has previously worked on acclaimed productions at leading international houses, including Schaubühne, Berlin & Burgtheater, Vienna.
