Tipperary-based rock band of the 1970s, fronted by guitarist Tommy Lyons. Busy gigging band with strong Santana influences.

About Pyramid

The band was made up of Tommy Lyons (lead guitar - Tommy played with a number of bands over the years and is still active in the Thurles area where he teaches guitar at the Tipperary Institute), Johnny Dunne (who had been associated with Hawkwind in the UK and now has a small recording studio near Thurles), bass player Robbie Fogarty and his brother Nicky on drums.

Pyramid were extremely popular in the Munster area and also toured the UK and Europe. Their main influence was Santana (they covered a number of Santana tracks and their original songs were similarly styled). Great live band.

The line-up of the band was Tom Lyons (Lead Guitar) Tom Kinane (Rhythm) Robbie Fogarty (Bass) Seanie Ryan (Drums) Johnny Dunne (Bongoes) La-La Dunne (Congas). Nicky Fogarty along with Pat O Rourke were the main roadies. I managed the band.

A guy named Tom Kinnane was also a guitarist and vocalist in Pyramid and is now based in London. Nicky Fogarty was later replaced by Seanie Ryan on drums who eventually went on to play with Irish band'Tweed' and he is now based in USA.
