One of the first Irish bands to reach the American charts in the sixties
About Bluesville
Formed in the early 60s by Ian Whitcomb after he moved to Dublin from England to study at Trinity College. Bluesville made history by being the first Irish based band to break into the American top 10 when their song 'You turn me on' reached number 8 in the Billboard chart in July 1965. An earlier single, 'This Sporting Life', also made a minor dent in the American charts but the song 'You turn me on', which was something of a joke song improvised at the end of a recording session, became their biggest hit.
