Idol Joy were a new wave/rock/pop band from Cork city on the national scene from late '85 to early '88. They had radio success with the song Paradise Days from comet 2 LP and gained a top 5 chart fav on 2fm Dave Fanning's hit list. They recorded a session for Dave Fanning's show in 1987.The band also reached Hotpress band of 86. Could have been more successful if they had the right guidance.
Idol Joy were formed in October 1985 they made their live debut in Cork Opera House in February 1986. They recorded a demo in Elm Tree Studios in Cork featuring tracks ‘JFK’ and ‘Eli’.
Idol Joy split in 1988 and following this, three of the members, Joe Cherry, John McGuire and Fionn Blake formed another band called The Pakt.
