About Mick Flannery
Mick Flannery is a singer-songwriter from Blarney, Co. Cork known for his blend of folk and blues music. His debut album Evening Train was inspired by his studies in music and management and earned him recognition, including being the first Irish winner at the International Songwriting Competition in Nashville. The album later inspired a musical adaptation in 2019.
Flannery's second album, White Lies (2008), achieved platinum status and was nominated for the Choice Music Prize. His success continued with albums like Red to Blue (2012), I Own You (2016), and Mick Flannery (2019), which topped the Irish charts. His work often reflects themes of personal struggle, ambition, and relationships, and he has collaborated with artists like Lisa Hannigan, Susan O'Neill, and Anaïs Mitchell.
Flannery's live performances, including his Alive - Cork Opera House (2020) album, showcase his raw talent and deadpan humor. He has also supported various charitable causes, such as through his Mickmas Christmas EPs and the song "Run a Mile," which raised awareness for domestic abuse. His recent works include In The Game (2021), a collaborative album with Susan O'Neill, and A Night at the Opera (2022), inspired by famous chess games. Flannery’s music has earned critical acclaim and numerous accolades, cementing his place as one of Ireland's foremost singer-songwriters.
