About Royseven

Royseven was a six-piece alternative rock band from Dublin formed in 2003. They were known for hits like "Dance" and "We Should Be Lovers". Their music blends rock with catchy melodies, and they've released two albums: The Art of Insincerity (2006) and You Say, We Say (2011).

The band formed after vocalist Paul Walsh and guitarist Eamonn Barrett placed an ad in Hot Press magazine seeking a drummer, which led to the recruitment of Darragh Oglesby. The lineup was completed by keyboardist Paul O'Hara, bassist Bernard O'Neill, and guitarist Sam Garland. Despite previous band experience, Royseven clicked from the first rehearsal.

Their debut album, The Art of Insincerity, produced by Marc Carolan (known for his work with Muse), was released in 2006. It charted at No. 17 in Ireland, and the lead single "Older" reached No. 6. The band's success grew with the use of their song "Crash" in a VW ad campaign. They toured extensively across Europe, playing major festivals like Oxegen, Rock am Ring, and Electric Picnic, and supported bands such as Kaiser Chiefs and The Fratellis.

Royseven's second album, You Say, We Say, was recorded in Germany with producer Andreas Herbig and released in 2011. The lead single "We Should Be Lovers" became the most-played Irish song on Irish radio that year. The album was well-received, and the band toured Europe alongside acts like OneRepublic, Kaiser Chiefs, and Duran Duran.

After 11 years together, Royseven disbanded in March 2014, citing a sense of gratitude for their journey and a desire to explore individual musical projects. Despite their breakup, the band remains fondly remembered for their contributions to Irish rock and their memorable songs.

In 2021, they announced they had reformed and were working on new music. They followed up with some gigs over the next few years and did some studio recording sessions in February 2023.
