Grung rock band centering around blind multi instrumentalist Brian Casey from Bantry, evolved out of Stone Throwing Youths

About Screenreader

Stone Throwing Youths was a self produced band started in 2008 and centred around blind multi instrumentalist Brian Casey, who wrote and performed all of STY’s music. Casey was joined by drummer Andrew O’Sullivan for live performances. STY generated much word of mouth endorsement for their live shows; for their edgy and spontaneous dynamic, their ever-changing live performances – pounding rhythms, a deeply inventive guitar arsenal and an audience left in disbelief- that the sound is created on stage, in real-time by just two musicians.

A a self-titled EP was released February 2009 with Casey producing, mixing and performing all instrumentation. In 2012 Casey changed the format to a 3 piece and renamed the band to Screenreader. An album called “Disconnect The Dots” which was intended to be a Stone Throwing Youths album was released in 2012 under the new band name. No new material was released until a single in 2018 and another one in 2020.
