About Skindive

Skindive was an electronic rock band formed in Dublin in the late 1990s, known for blending electronic sounds with harsh, atmospheric music. Their style, featuring distorted guitars and clean female vocals, drew comparisons to Garbage. The band was formed in 1999 by Gerry Owens, who had previously been living in London playing with a series of groups which met with little or no success. After recruiting bassist Alan Lee and drummer Ger Farrell, Owens found the right vocalist in Danielle Harrison, who moved from Los Angeles to join the band.

Skindive signed to Palm Records after performing for Chris Blackwell, who was impressed by their demo. They released their debut album Skindive in February 2001, which, despite positive reviews, failed to chart, leading to their departure from Palm Records. In 2002, the band struggled with waning support from the label and was close to breaking up. They later signed with independent label AlphaMale Recordings and released the single "Precious," but the lack of chart success led to the album being shelved and the band's breakup.

Gerry Owens later formed the band Lluther, with former Skindive drummer Ger Farrell joining the live lineup.

I think the problem was their album release coincided with Sept 11th ... and that was all she wrote!
