DALI - The newest emergence from the fast cultivating alternative scene in Thomastown, Co. Kilkenny. Fronted by songwriter Deirdre Doyle with brother Sean on lead, Micky Cullen on Bass and Brian Dempsey on drums, the four piece spent the winter of 2007 heads down recording their debut EP titled '27' with producer Leo Pearson. Dali launched their summer and their new EP by opening the launch night of Liveinyourlivingroom.com to a great reception!
Described by Hotpress as a 'folkier, tighter Sonic Youth', Dali were originally formed in 2006, initially as a duo of the Doyle siblings later expanding to a four piece. They released a four track EP titled '27' in 2007, which was swiftly followed up with the single 'Think Before You Think'. Produced by Leo Pearson, the single received heavy rotation on both Phantom FM in Dublin and Beat FM in the South East, with the band celebrating being the No.1 requested Irish band on Phantom FM in the summer of 2008.
Dali went on hiatus in 2010 with lead singer Deirdre Doyle pursuing a solo venture under the alias Deetrich. She released the album 'Tug of War' on Reekus Records in 2012 to much critical acclaim. Deirdre and drummer Brian Dempsey would collaborate again in Leo Pearson’s band The White Liars, whilst Sean Doyle went on to form the original line up Kilkenny band Souls with Clive Barnes and Darragh Butler (Kerbdog).
Dali reformed in 2017 and played a couple of shows in 2017 and 2018 including supporting Aslan at a festival gig in Thomastown in 2018.
