Lerner formed officially in 2004, though they had previously been together as a different band, with different members. Members from the very start include Martin Ryan, Karen O'Doherty, Hugh Dillon & Galvin.
Since 2004, they have released an Album titled "Still, Waiting", recorded with producer, Karl Odlum, in the foothills of Ventry, Co. Kerry. They have also scored support slots with The Frames, Kila, Mark Geary & Martin Finke. After recording their album, Lerner introduced Anto' Noonan on drums. Already an established drummer and singer/songwriter, Anto' brought a fuller sound to the table. The fact that he also shares his vocal talents from behind the drumkit, means that the band are allowed to experiment more at their live shows.
Ali Arnopp was also introduced to the public as Lerner's shared lead vocalist in the summer of 2005. Though she does not appear on the record, she brings a huge range of talent with her and can silence any crowd when she starts to sing.
Lerner's second album 'Calm Road' was recorded in West Cork in 2007/08 and again produced by Karl Odlum but it was not released until February 2012.
