About Rarely Seen Above Ground

Jeremy Hickey, known as Rarely Seen Above Ground (R.S.A.G.), is an Irish multi-instrumentalist and producer from Kilkenny. His first live is the drums and he usually performs live drums and vocals with multi-media projections of himself doing the backing tracks on the other instruments. He has released four albums and one EP: Rarely Seen Above Ground (2007), Organic Sampler (2008), Be It Right Or Wrong (2010), Rotate EP (2013), and Chroma (2020).

His debut album, Organic Sampler, received a Choice Music Prize nomination for Irish Album of the Year and a 5-star review from the Irish Times. His follow-up, Be It Right Or Wrong, was also critically acclaimed, earning 5 stars from RTE Ten magazine. The Rotate EP was highlighted as one of Nialler 9's top 10 EPs in 2013, while Chroma has been described as his finest work and one of the best Irish albums of 2020.

Hickey's live performances, often featuring a virtual band projected on screen, have made him a fixture at Irish festivals such as Electric Picnic and Body & Soul. His musical style draws influence from bands like Joy Division and Talking Heads.

He started as a drummer in the band Blue Ghost and has performed at various international festivals, including SXSW and the Montreux Jazz Festival. R.S.A.G. has received multiple awards and nominations, including a notable highlight of supporting The Pixies at Dublin's Olympia Theatre.
