Ten Speed Racer was formed in Dublin in 2000 and consisted of frontman vocalist/guitarist Dermot Barrett, his brothers John and Pat and drummer Terry Cullen. Guitarist Joe Chester joined after meeting up with the band in the US. Ten Speed Racer released two highly regarded albums, Eskimo Beach Boy in 2000 and their self-titled second album in 2003. Tom Robinson once wrote in The Guardian that, “No one with a pulse can fail to be moved by Dublin’s Ten Speed Racer.”
Ten Speed Racer disbanded in 2004.
Drummer Terry Cullen formed the band Dae Kim in 2005. Joe Chester released a solo album entitled "A Murder Of Crows" in 2005. Chester also worked with Pat Barrett on The Hedge Schools project as well as joining A Lazarus Soul.
