The Stars Of Heaven were an eighties band that played a version of country music more in tune with the sixties band the Byrds than anything else in the mid 80's indie charts.
The Stars of Heaven released their debut single, Clothes of Pride, in 1985 as an independent Ireland-only release. BBC DJ John Peel picked up on the single and invited the band in for a studio session. The band signed to the Rough Trade record label and released their debut album, Sacred Heart Hotel in 1986. This album contains the first of their four John Peel BBC Radio 1 sessions.
They released their second album, Speak Slowly, in 1988. Despite growing interest in their music, the group disbanded shortly after it's release.
