About Cypress, Mine!

Cypress, Mine! was an influential Irish indie-pop/rock quartet from Cork, active in the mid-to-late 1980s. The band consisted of Ciarán Ó Tuama (vocals), Ian Olney (guitar), Denis “Skoda” O’Mullane (bass), and Mark Healy (drums).

They released their debut (and only) album Exit Trashtown in 1987 via Solid Records, followed by singles like “In the Big House,” “Justine,” and the radio-popular “Sugar Beet God.”

Despite supporting big names like U2 and Echo & the Bunnymen, the band disbanded in 1989, citing frustration with commercial progress.

In 2017, their work was reissued by Spanish label Pretty Olivia, including unreleased demos and B-sides, sparking renewed interest.

The band reformed in 2025 with Mark Healy playing the bass and Morty McCarthy of The Sultans of Ping takes over drumming duties. They released a new single Spellbinding as well as another track Crawl, and announced shows for 2026.
