In Dublin City Centre in the early 1990’s Dragonfly were, without doubt, one of the more underground and avant guard purveyors of an Emerald vein of rock music in the city at the time. Emerging out of the incubus of Ballyfermot Arts College along with some of the most important bands and artists of the time like the mighty LiR and The Frames among numerous other friends and contemporaries.... Dragonfly spread their psychedelic wings and took flight.
Live, Dragonfly literally lit a fire every single night they played as they ritually burned incense on stage for a unique vibration in honour of Lord Krishna - Mick always said this was an important vibe to share, and as Mike Duff Medhavi he was a practising Hare Krishna devotee. It added to the experience and joined band and audience as one.
They released a cassette only EP Blame in 1994.
Dragonfly played their farewell show in Whelans on Thursday 2nd October 1994.
After Mick Duff Medhavi passed away in 2019 Dragonfly members got back together for gig in his honour at Whelans.
In 2020 they released a live album which was their farewell gig from 1994. Another one-off gig followed in May 2022 to celebrate the digital release of their remastered EP Blame.
