What happens when four highly motivated couch potatoes, trawl through the b-movie underworld in search of the purest of gold...? They Fight Like Apes! Hailing from Dublin, Ireland and weighing in at over 6 hundred pounds, Fight Like Apes combine the Synth with the Sword in this heroic tale of anger, jealousy, greed and ...goblins. With an emphasis on loutish vocals, brutish bass and digital distortion Fight Like Apes are highly trained, armed and considered extremely dangerous.
Fight Like Apes formed in Dublin in 2006. Known for their quirky and elongated record titles inspired by B movies, the band released three EPs and two albums before their breakup in 2016. Their notable works include "Fight Like Apes and the Mystery of the Golden Medallion" (2008) and "The Body of Christ and the Legs of Tina Turner" (2010).
The band gained popularity through their energetic live performances and unique style, which combined influences from B movies, computer games, and wrestling. They toured extensively, including in the UK and Asia, and appeared on various Irish and international media outlets. Despite their success, financial difficulties led to their split in 2016. In June 2022, Fight Like Apes announced that they would be getting back together for a one off gig at the Olympia in Dublin in March 2023 to celebrate the 15th Anniversary of their debut album 'Fight Like Apes and the Mystery of the Golden Medallion'. A few other gigs and festival appearances also happened.
Original members Adrian Mullan (drums) and Tom Ryan (bass) left in 2010.
