About Floyd Soul And The Wolf
Floyd Soul & The Wolf came together in the spring of 2005, formed in 2004 by cousins Luke Heffernan (Floyd Soul) and Deano Moran. What started into a handful of songs by Floyd Soul soon emerged into a collection of music ranging from boot-stomping rock songs to surreal anthems filled with harmony and energy with The Wolf. Following their formation, they played regularly in Waterford, Dublin, Cork and Galway and managed to release an EP 'Welcome To The Woods' which received critical acclaim as Hotpress Pick Of The Fortnight in April 2006.
Initially inspired by artists like Neil Young, The Rolling Stones, and Van Morrison, their musical influences evolved over time to encompass punk, electronica, and hard rock.
In April 2008, they won The Irish National Student Music Awards, leading to the release of their single "Give It A Chance," which received nationwide acclaim. The success of the single allowed them to tour Ireland for three months, playing notable venues like Whelan's in Dublin and Cyprus Avenue in Cork. They modeled their tour after Bruce Springsteen's Darkness Tour, branding it the Give It A Chance Tour.
In February 2009, the band released their third single, "Absinthe," as a free download, gaining significant national exposure. Later that year, in September, they recorded their debut album in Nashville, Tennessee, with producer Thomm Jutz. The album did not get an official release before the band split but the tracks were made available on their MySpace page.
