About From The Bogs Of Aughiska
Dark / black ambient noisescapes inspired by Celtic history, pagan mythology and the harsh, rugged west coast of Ireland. Intended to create the musical equivalent of standing atop the majestic Cliffs Of Moher with a gale force wind in your face.
Hailing from the craggy coastline of County Clare, this two man-drone project are an ambient, creepy and crushing presence that capture the bleak and eerie side of the Irish landscape. Live, FTBOA are an unnerving experience, playing masked while desolate imagery of rural Ireland flashes on screens behind them.
From The Bogs of Aughiska was originally created as a solo project if Conchur O’Drona in 2009. The first From The Bogs of Aughiska song that was written was the track ’Leabhar Gabhala Eireann’. The self-titled debut album was released in 2010 on Lone Vigil label. In 2011 O’Drona started performing live, the very first 2 show were in The Netherlands (one in Utrecht and the other supporting Ulver in Rotterdam) and a split with Dark Ages (Roman Saenko from Drudkh / Hate Forest) came out later that year. Roots of This Earth Within My Blood was released in 2013 to much acclaim and around that time the band became a two piece and toured Europe. The Fenian Ram EP came out in 2016. The band evolved into a four piece and released their third album Mineral Bearing Veins in 2018. A live album, Tactical Magic: Live at Róisín Dubh - Gaillimh 2019, was released in 2020.
