Gavin Friday, born Fionán Martin Hanvey on October 8, 1959, is a singer, songwriter, composer, actor, and painter, best known as a founding member of the post-punk band The Virgin Prunes. Raised in Dublin, he became friends with Bono as a teenager. After The Virgin Prunes disbanded in 1986, Friday focused on painting and collaborated with Bono on various projects, including soundtracks for films like In the Name of the Father and In America.
Throughout his career, Friday worked closely with multi-instrumentalist Maurice "Man" Seezer, releasing three albums together and composing scores for films, including The Boxer and Disco Pigs.
In October 2024 Friday released his 5th solo album, Ecce Homo, and first in album in 13 years.
