About General Fiasco

General Fiasco is an indie rock band from around Bellaghy and Magherafelt Co. Derry, formed in 2006. They have toured with various notable acts and released two albums: Buildings on March 22, 2010, and Unfaithfully Yours on July 30, 2012.

Owen Strathern and Stephen Leacock, previously members of The Tides, founded General Fiasco to pursue a more pop-rock sound. They quickly gained attention, touring with Fighting With Wire and achieving recognition in local music charts. Their early singles, including "Rebel Get By," garnered airplay and accolades, including Zane Lowe's "Hottest Record in the World."

Their debut album, Buildings, received mixed reviews but led to performances at major festivals like Glastonbury and T in the Park. In September 2010, they signed with Dirty Hit after parting ways with Infectious Records. Their second album, Unfaithfully Yours, was released in July 2012 alongside a successful tour.

Despite their success, General Fiasco announced an indefinite hiatus in January 2013, citing the need for a break after years of touring. They continued to play a few gigs during this period, including performances with Duke Special.

In 2016 they formed a new band called Franklyn. In Jan 2018 they announced the return of General Fiasco with 3 gigs at Voodoo Belfast on 30th, 31st Jan and 1st Feb. They also kept the Franklyn project going as well.
