About Gregory Gray

Gregory Gray was the stage name of Paul Lerwill from Portrush, Co. Antrim. He started his career in a boy band called Rosetta Stone It was after this that he adopted the stage name to disassociate with his boy band past. He formed a new wave band called Perfect Crime in 1981 which released 2 singles before breaking up in 84. Perfect Crime played support to many major acts including U2. He began hin solo career in 1985, signing to CBS Records. He released three solo albums between 1986 and 1995 on CBS, Polygram and EMI. In the late 90s he moved tfrom Northern Ireland to Hertfordshire in England. From then on he adopted the name "Mary Cigarettes" for his musical output which was mostly made available for free on platforms such as SoundCloud and YouTube. After a short illness, Gregory Gray died on 25 April 2019.
