Into Paradise, originally formed as Backwards into Paradise in 1986, released their debut EP, Blue Light, in 1989 through the independent label Setanta. They followed this with the EP Change and their first full album, Under the Water. David Long, a.k.a. "Longer," served as the lead singer and guitarist. Their most successful album, which marked their major label debut, was Churchtown, produced by Adrian Borland.
After Into Paradise split in mid-90s, David Long collaborated with Shane O’Neill, ex-Blue In Heaven who was a childhood friend from the same part of Dublin, Churchtown, and they put out some records together as 'amuse', 'Supernaut' and "David Long & Shane O'Neill". He also performed solo and as part of a group called "The Whens". Rachel Tighe went on to join a Dublin art-pop band called Luggage.
