About Jim Armstrong

James Armstrong is a Northern Irish guitarist whose musical career began in his youth with the popular showband The Melotones in Belfast. He played and recorded with Van Morrison and Them in the mid-'60s, contributing to over half of their 51 tracks. During his time in America, he collaborated with iconic artists like Jim Morrison and The Doors, Captain Beefheart, and Frank Zappa.

After leaving Them in 1968, Armstrong formed the band Sk'Boo in Belfast and the following year he was enticed back to the States and he formed the band Truth in Chicago. In the late '70s, he was part of the Northern Irish rock group Light and participated in a brief Them tour in Germany. Throughout the '80s, he rejoined Sk'Boo and became a sought-after session musician in Northern Ireland, working with various local media.

In the '90s, he toured with "Them – The Belfast Blues Band" before forming the Jim Armstrong Band. While he has explored various musical styles, blues remains his primary passion.

In 2015, he relocated to Las Vegas following a health issue during a tour in Germany.
