About Juliet Turner

Juliet Turner is a singer-songwriter from Tummery, Co. Tyrone, who began her music career in 1996. She has opened for notable artists like Bob Dylan, U2, and Bryan Adams and toured with figures such as Roger McGuinn and Joan Armatrading.

Juliet Turner stumbled into making music. She was given a guitar for her fifteenth birthday and met a poet who told her to start writing her own songs. In 1996 whilst at university in Glasgow, she was offered the chance to record those songs in a little studio with a small independent label 'Sticky Music'. The result, Let's Hear It for Pizza, was released in 1996. This was followed by Burn the Black Suit, which achieved double platinum status in Ireland and was named one of the top 100 Irish albums of all time by HotPress readers. In 1998, she performed "Broken Things" at the memorial service for the Omagh bombing victims, which later appeared on the compilation Across The Bridge Of Hope.

Turner received several accolades, including a "Best Newcomer in Music" award from the Irish Post and recognition from Tatler Magazine. She covered Britney Spears' "Toxic" and U2's "I Still Haven't Found What I'm Looking For" for compilation albums.

Her 2004 release, Season of the Hurricane, went gold in Ireland, followed by a live album in 2006. She won the Meteor Music Award for Best Irish Female Performer in 2005. From 2006 to 2010, she pursued a degree in Clinical Speech and Language Studies at Trinity College Dublin while performing to support her album People Have Names. Released in 2008, the album received critical acclaim, with reviews highlighting its quality and impact.
