Juniper was formed in 1991 by a group of school pals from Celbridge, Co. Kildare (Damien Rice, Brian Crosby, Paul Noonan and Dominic Phillips). They signed to PolyGram for a potential six album deal and released two singles, "Weatherman" and "World Is Dead", which charted in Ireland when released in 1998. Juniper also appeared on a compilation album, Natural Born Elvis (1998). In 1999 Damien Rice left to pursue a different musical direction and Juniper evolved into Bell X1.
