Known in Ireland as 'Christy Moore's brother', Luka Bloom is a talented writer and passionate preformer of folky rock and who also has a gift for uniquely interpreting other artists songs and make them his own.

About Luka Bloom

Barry Moore started performing in 1969 when he was just 14 years. In the 1970 he started writing his own songs and released his debut album, Treaty Stone in 1979. He released two more albums under his own name in the early 80s. In 1987, Moore moved to the United States and began performing using the stage name of "Luka Bloom". He chose the name "Luka" from the title of Suzanne Vega's song and "Bloom" from the character in Joyce's novel Ulysses.

In 1990, Luka Bloom released Riverside, featuring "The Man Is Alive," with lyrics inspired by his time in New York. He returned to Dublin in 1991 to record The Acoustic Motorbike, which included a unique cover of LL Cool J's "I Need Love," praised by Rolling Stone for its experimental nature. Bloom recorded Turf in 1993 with a live audience, aiming to capture a performance atmosphere. His 1998 album, Salty Heaven, was inspired by his return to Ireland.

Bloom's early works showcased his energetic strumming style and thoughtful covers, including Elvis Presley's "Can't Help Falling in Love." In 2000, he released Keeper of the Flame, an album of covers that included ABBA's "Dancing Queen." His 2004 acoustic mini-album, Before Sleep Comes, was created during his recovery from tendinitis.

In 2005, Innocence featured influences from Eastern European Romany music and showcased his classical guitar skills. The 2007 album Tribe, a collaboration with Simon O'Reilly, saw Bloom add lyrics to O'Reilly's compositions. In 2008, he released the DVD The Man is Alive, along with the album Eleven Songs, which incorporated a wider range of instrumentation.
