Nina Hynes is a musician, songwriter, and producer from Dublin, known for her distinctive sound and DIY approach. She releases music through her own label, Transplant Records, and directly to subscribers via her Bandcamp page.
Nina debuted in 1999 with the EP Creation and gained early support from Nic Harcourt at KCRW. Her first full album, Staros (2002), earned critical acclaim in Ireland and beyond, especially with the single Mono Prix. She has toured extensively in North America, Europe, and the U.S., and has shared stages with acts like Roxy Music, Stereolab, and David Gray.
Over the years, Nina has released several albums, including Really Really Do (2007) and Goldmine (2013), a collaboration with Fabien Leseure under the band name Dancing Suns. She has also worked on soundtracks, including her first feature film score for Glue (2018) and a road movie score, Aimer La Vie (2020).
After taking a break following the birth of her first child in 2008, Nina returned in 2011 with new music and a successful crowdfunding campaign to finance her fourth album. In 2019, she set up her own studio to record ZAP!, which was released in 2021. Throughout her career, Nina has maintained a loyal fanbase, regularly releasing new material and collaborating with artists across various mediums.
