About The Boat Sank
The Boat Sank are an instrumental sludge-groove trio from Belfast, Northern Ireland, known for their heavy, groove-laden sound and dark sense of humour.
Formed around a trio lineup — Chris on drums, Charlie handling guitar along with mixing/mastering, and Leighton on bass — they draw on elements of stoner, doom, and sludge metal, delivering weighty, riff-driven instrumentals that hit with visceral impact.
The band’s name is a tongue-in-cheek reference to Belfast’s “most famous export” — a fancy ship that sank. After releasing some singles in 2024, in 2025 they released the EP Concerto of the Deep which featured collaborations with guest vocalists from the Irish metal scene.
