Remma were a band from Cork formed in 2003 by brothers Shane and Colm O'Herlihy. The band has undergone many lineup changes but the two brothers have been a mainstay.
In 2004 a demo track 'Worry Young' came to the attention of Morrissey and he included the song on a compilation, 'Songs To Save Your Life' which he was putting together for NME Magazine. Remma were signed by Morrissey to Attack Records (his signature label within Sanctuary Records) which saw their debut EP 'Worry Young' released in the US & Europe to critical acclaim and followed with Morrissey supports at London's Earls Court Arena & Dublin's Point Depot.
REMMA's debut release which has been hailed as "Passionate, Windswept" – The Guardian, "A Stormer" – NME & "Epic Melodic Rock" – HMV.Com received extensive airplay in the US & Europe
As the band's career was beginning to take flight and with plans underway for a US & European promotional tour REMMA were dealt a devastating blow when lead singer Shane was struck down with a rare virus which destroyed his kidneys and which was to see him on dialysis and awaiting transplant for the following 3 years.
This was a very low point for the band but still they managed to keep on writing and recording new material and playing the occasional gig but serious touring or gigging commitments had to be placed temporarily on hold. In late 2007 Shane finally underwent a successful kidney transplant and rapidly returned to full health.
In September of 2008, Remma released its second single, 'Forcibly Impressed'. It single was produced by The Cranberries guitarist, Noel Hogan, and this marked the start of a relationship with the group which would continue over a number of releases. The next output from the band came in 2010 with the release of the 'Continue The Search' EP. A further single, 'Irate' followed in January 2011.
