Shouting at Planes were an indie rock band from Bailieboro, Co. Cavan, formed in 2010. That year they won a national competition featuring over 100 entrants, securing a coveted spot at the Glastonbury festival as their prize. They performed on the Queen's Head Stage at Glastonbury on June 26, 2010, to a full house. Shortly after, in August 2010, they released their debut single, "Hospice." Despite lacking promotional support or a record label, the single debuted at number 23 on the Irish charts.
In October 2010, the band opened for Imelda May at the Virginia Pumpkin Festival, performing before 3,500 people. A few days later, on November 12, they released their second single, "So Young".
In April 2011, Shouting At Planes released their debut EP, Surrender The Academy 2, and spent the summer performing at various Irish music festivals, including Electric Picnic, Indiependance, Temple House, and Le Cheile.
