Basht. are a rock band that combine new-wave bass lines, hip-hop-inspired drum beats, and raw guitar riffs with a classic rock and roll energy. Niall Stokes of Hot Press has praised them as “One of the most exciting young rock bands to emerge in Ireland in aeons”. They started off in 2021 with lead vocalist Jack Leavey, bassist Louis Christle, guitarist Sam Duffy and drummer Luke O’Neill and later added a second guitarist, Rossa Healy.
The group’s trajectory significantly rose in 2023, marked by tour support for Wunderhorse in both the UK and Ireland, along with performances alongside Bdrmm and Goo Goo Dolls. They also graced several festivals, including Mutations, Electric Picnic, and All Together Now, and achieved the milestone of selling out their first two London headline shows at The Sebright Arms for a Communion Music showcase and The Social.
In 2024, Basht released their debut EP, Dirty White Lies and embarked on their sold-out debut headline UK and Ireland tour in support of Dirty White Lies. Their sophomore EP, Bitter & Twisted, was released in May 2025.
After line-up changes in 2025, first pairing down to the core duo of Leavey and Christle, they then settled into a four piece with a new guitarist and drummer.
