Belfast-based 'tradtronica' collective

About Huartan

Huartan are a Belfast-based 'tradtronica' collective formed in 2023 blending traditional Irish-language song with contemporary electronic production. Formed by Stíofán Ó Luachráin, Catríona Ní Ghribín and Miadhachlughain “Múlú” O’Donnell, the group draw on pagan lore, Gaelic folklore and Ulster song traditions to create immersive, ritual-like performances featuring masked dancers and mythic imagery.

Their music reimagines ancient melodies through pulsing beats and atmospheric synths, exploring themes of decolonization, spirituality and cultural revival. Huartan have earned strong critical attention, winning Live Act of the Year at the NI Music Prize and the Irish-language song competition Amhrán na Laoch.

They released their eponymous debut album in November 2025.
