About YARD
YARD are a three-piece electropunk and electro-noise band from Dublin, formed by Emmet White (vocals, synth), Dan Malone (guitar) and George Ryan (drums, synth). Their sound fuses the relentless energy of techno with the abrasion of industrial rock and post-punk, marked by pounding beats, jagged guitars and raw, urgent vocals. Visually and conceptually, they are defined by their dark, immersive aesthetic and the presence of their enigmatic mascot, “Bucketman,” a recurring figure in their live shows.
Emerging from Dublin’s underground scene, YARD developed their sound after their early experiments with drum machines and live electronics, finding a distinct voice that sits between dancefloor intensity and noise-driven catharsis. Their influences include SUUNS, Gilla Band, Nine Inch Nails and Death Grips, though their execution is uniquely visceral and distinctly Irish in tone and atmosphere.
They have released several acclaimed singles including “Bend” and “Big Shoes,” along with a self-titled EP that captures their evolving mix of aggression and precision. Tracks like “Essential Tremor” highlight the band’s thematic focus on anxiety, embodiment and sensory overload—ideas mirrored in their live sound and lighting design.
YARD’s performances are renowned for their physicality and intensity, transforming venues into pulsing, industrial spaces where noise and rhythm collide. They have shared stages with acts such as Shame, Mandy Indiana, Scaler, Enola Gay and Chalk, and have played major showcases including Eurosonic, The Great Escape, Primavera Pro and INmusic Festival. A KEXP session recorded in France in late 2024 helped cement their reputation internationally.
With growing attention across Europe and support from outlets like Clash, BBC Radio 6 and Rolling Stone, YARD have quickly become one of Ireland’s most forward-looking live acts. Their commitment to pushing sonic boundaries has positioned them at the forefront of the new wave of electronic post-punk, balancing chaos and control in equal measure.
