About Relish

Relish are a rock band from Northern Ireland formed in Downpatrick by brothers Ken (vocals and guitar) and Carl (drums, keyboards, vocals) Papenfus, along with bassist Darren Campbell (until 2013). The Papenfus brothers are the sons of South African jazz singer Jane Londis and Stan Papenfus, a psychologist, author, and percussionist, who settled in Belfast in the early 1970s.

Relish were formed in the mid-1990s when bass player Darren Campbell teamed up with the brothers. The band signed to EMI in 1998 and they worked with famed producer John Leckie (The Stone Roses, Radiohead) over a 3 year period to record their first album.

Their debut album, Wildflowers (2001), charted in the UK and Ireland, and they followed up with Karma Calling in 2003, which was also successful, debuting at No. 8 in Ireland. After parting ways with EMI in 2005, the band took a hiatus, with the Papenfus brothers involved in various side projects, including work with Sinéad O'Connor and the soundtrack for the film Sing Street. In November 2010 Relish played their first live gig in five years and the following year they released a new album Connected on their own label, Zephyr Sounds, with distribution in the US through Rock Ridge Music/ADA Warners. The album, which included radio hits like "Something To Believe In," "Connected," and "Together You," received positive reviews despite its low-key release in the UK and Ireland.

The Papenfus brothers also formed a management company, 67 Management, and worked on projects with artists like O'Connor and The Answer. The band continues to be active in music production and live performances, and their label Zephyr Sounds was later rebranded as High Altitude Recordings in 2016.
